Sabres Hang On For 2-1 Win

Buffalo hosted the Bruins looking for its second win in a row. Boston will have Marc Savard back in the lineup, which is a big relief for the Bruins. Without Savard, the team went 1-6-1 and only scored 13 goals.

Boston has won the first two meetings between these teams, but trail Buffalo by 15 points. Despite being 11th in the conference, Boston can jump all the way up to 6th with a win tonight.Bruins Sabres Hockey

The Sabres will have Ryan Miller in net once again, looking to improve his stats even more. Antti Niemi is the only one ahead of Miller in goals against average with 1.99.

Henrik Tallinder scored his third goal of the season, putting Buffalo up 1-0. For Buffalo fans, it was a great relief to hear Rick Jeanneret announce a Sabres goal. He had the last eight games off due to his annual vacation.

On its third power play of the game, Buffalo scored again. This time, Thomas Vanek beat Tuukka Rask and the Sabres took a 2-0 lead.

Boston got on the board in the second period with a goal from Milan Lucic. It was his first goal in his last ten games as the Bruins cut the lead in half. Buffalo took its one goal lead into the third period and kept it that way. Boston outshot Buffalo 12-5 in the final period, but could not beat Miller.

After his point streak came to an end last game, Tim Connolly started a new one with an assist on Thomas Vanek’s goal.

It looks as if Buffalo is back to its normal self after a disappointing road trip. The Sabres have won two in a row by defeating New Jersey and Boston. They will head to Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins on Monday.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
