Tonight’s the Night…

Tonight’s the night the world begins again.

A quick flashback to to when the Sabres last made the playoffs may inspire your for this postseason. Tonight, it all begins. This is what we have missed out on in the past couple of season. The electric HSBC arena, the excitement, the intensity, and the start of a journey to the Stanley Cup.

It’s a beautiful day in Buffalo as fans are hoping the Sabres can open with a win. The party in the plaza is set to open, and the playoff atmosphere is finally back.

The band-wagoners will be jumping on board soon, if they have not already. The pressure is on as mistakes are costly. Buffalo has quite a few players who have yet to play in the postseason, including Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis, who will see some playing time.

Thomas Vanek has struggled all season and wants to redeem himself for, not only this year, but the previous postseason. Vanek was benched a few years back when he was not playing well. Players such as Patrick Kaleta and Tyler Myers will also see their first postseason action.

It seems like the Sabres are the underdog, despite being the #3 seed in the east. I believe Boston fans have overlooked this Buffalo team. Just because they won four out of the six meetings doesn’t mean anything. This is playoffs, it will all come down to who wants it more. I believe the Sabres will play harder and the Bruins won’t be able to keep up.

Game 1 tonight. Puck drop at 7:00 p.m.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
