Final: Sabres 3, Panthers 2

Finally. The Sabres have won three consecutive games for the first time this season. Tyler Myers scored with 4.5 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Sabres a 3-2 victory.

With the win and a Carolina loss, the Sabres moved to two points out of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference, still with two games in hand over the Hurricanes.

It was Myers’ second goal in over 30 games, but it couldn’t have come at a better time. The game was moving slowly until halfway through the period, when Mike Weber earned his third goal of the season.

Florida came back eight minutes later, when former Sabre Steve Bernier, scored on the power play. In the third period, Jason Pominville fed Thomas Vanek a one-timer that found its way past Tomas Vokoun, giving the Sabres a 2-1 lead.

About a minute later, Marty Reasoner tied the game for the Panthers. The game stayed that way until Myers finished  it off with the game-winner.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
