Deadline Day is on the Horizon

With every NHL season comes Deadline Day, an afternoon of madness throughout the entire league as general managers try to find the final piece for their team’s respective attempt at a playoff run.

At this point in the season, a General Manager would usually know whether he will be buying or selling. For Darcy Regier, figuring out the right thing to do might be hard for him on this upcoming deadline day.

Sitting six points out of eighth place, as of Thursday, a case could be made for renting a player while the same case could be made for trading away a player to open up future salary cap space.

Sabres fans have heard all the rumors throughout the past few months. Looking at the Sabres roster, there are many valuable pieces that could help out other organizations for the playoffs. With those valuable assets, the Sabres might be able to better the future of the team by trading pending unrestricted free agents or players who have a large salary cap hit. Looking at trades that have recently happened, many teams have seemed to be content with potentially overpaying to get a player that they want.

With that being said, the valuable pieces currently on the Sabres roster could be missing one or two key players from other organizations that could turn the entire season around. Another potential issue with trading away players that are deemed valuable to the franchise is that the trade could end up setting the team back in the long run.

I don’t want to ruin the fun for you, so instead of sitting here and telling you who might end up where, we here at SHC want to know what you think.

Make sure to vote on the poll below and be sure to leave your thoughts on the upcoming Trade Deadline in the comments.

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
