On This Day in Sabres History

Not only is today Cody McCormick’s birthday, but it is mine as well.

I came up with a few games that have happened on this day in Sabres history:

2007 – The Sabres defeated the Islanders by a 4-2 score to take a 3-1 series lead in the first round of the NHL playoffs. Chris Drury scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner.

2006 – The Sabres finished off the regular season with a 4-0 shutout over Carolina. Buffalo hadn’t had a shutout all season, but ended the year with two straight. Chris Drury scored to reach 30 goals for the frist time in his career.

“We just wanted to keep it rolling, try going into the playoffs with a win and not have any letdowns,” said Drury, who had four goals in the final three games. “We wanted to get on the plane with two points and keep it rolling.” – Sabres.com

2011- Just last year, the Flyers defeated the Sabres on this date, by a 4-2 score to take a 2-1 series lead.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
