NHL cancels games through Jan. 14

The NHL announced today that it has cancelled all regular season games through January 14th.

“The cancellations are necessary due to the absence of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement between the NHL Players’ Association and the NHL.

A total of 625 regular-season games—50.8 percent of the season—were scheduled for October 11 through January 14.

A season is still possible, but a shortened season wouldn’t start until late January.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
