Sabres hit the road, look to extend win streak

It’s been a roller coaster ride all season for Buffalo, but more so in the last few days. Now, Jhonas Enroth will lead the Sabres into Dallas and look to improve on a three game winning streak.

Newly acquired Jarolsav Halak will be the backup and Chris Stewart is expected to play tonight. The biggest question of the day thus far has been why Matt Moulson was missing from the morning skate. For now, he’s still scheduled to play.

“As long as I’m here, I’m going to focus 100 percent of my energy on winning hockey games for the Buffalo Sabres,” Stewart said.

The Sabres will go for their 4th consecutive win and they’ll do it against former Buffalo head coach Lindy Ruff, who defeated them earlier in the year at the First Niagara Center.

While Enroth may get a bulk of the start for the rest of the season, Halak doesn’t know where he’ll end up, but is also focusing on his current situation.

“I’m happy to be here right now, and we’ll see what’s going to happen a few days from now if I’m still here,” Halak said. “Anything can happen from now on. We’ve got three more days before the trade deadline, and we’ll see.”

The Stars are coming off of a 4-2 victory against Tampa Bay on Saturday and they are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. Tonight’s contest will wrap up the season series.

Tyler Seguin leads his team with 25 goals and 57 points this season but Jamie Benn is right behind him with 23 goals and 54 points.

The Sabres have struggled on the road this year, going 6-17-3 while the Stars have played well on home ice, posting a record of 15-10-6.

Tonight’s game is scheduled for 8 p.m. and can be seen Nationally on the NBCSN.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
