The Buffalo Sabres have announced the signing of defenseman Tyson Strachan to a one-year contract. The former 5th round (137th overall) selection in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft has played for St. Louis, Florida and Washington, totaling 138 career games.

Strachan has also accumulated 155 career penalty minutes and 15 points (1 goal, 14 assists). He is expected to help bolster the blue line in Rochester and give the Sabres a little more depth on the backend.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
