Sabres sign Benoit to one-year deal

benoitThe Buffalo Sabres have signed defenseman Andre Benoit to a one-year deal, worth a reported $800,000. Benoit is a 5′ 11′, 190 lb. d-man who first played for Ottawa in parts of two seasons.

Benoit last played for the Colorado Avalanche, where he tallied 28 points (seven goals, 21 assists) in 79 games, his first full season in the NHL.

By inking him to a one-year contract, Benoit gives the organization some depth and can give Rochester a boost as well.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
