Main storyline: We all expected a bad season from the Buffalo Sabres organization, but not many people predicted them to be this bad. Through the first month of the season, the Sabres are on pace to be worse than last season’s debacle.

October performance: At the time of this article, the Buffalo Sabres are 2-8-1, with 5 points on the season.

Where they stand: Buffalo is in 8th place, also referred to as last in the Atlantic. Buffalo finds themselves 15th in the Eastern Conference and 29th in the league, ahead of only Carolina in both categories. Buffalo also currently sports a -23 goal differential, highest in the National Hockey League. The Sabres have also scored a league-low 13 goals.

Buffalo notes: The Sabres set an National Hockey League record, by scoring only 10 goals in their first 10 games. Buffalo sees themselves winless at home in the month of October.

Conclusion: The long and winding road that is the 2014-15 Buffalo Sabres season has begun. Fasten your seatbelts, friends. We’re in for one hell of a ride this season.
