Sabres trade for Kulikov

Kulikov

The Buffalo Sabres have traded Mark Pysyk, the 38th and 89th pick for Dmitri Kulikov of the Florida Panthers and the 33rd pick.

The Sabres move up in the draft and get a D-man that can play on the top two pairings in exchange for Pysyk.

The 25-year-old left-handed defenseman was a need that Tim Murray addressed earlier in the week. Kulikov has one year remaining on his contract at $4.33 million.

He weighs in at 6′ 1″, 204 pounds and has played for Florida for seven seasons, averaging somewhere around 20 points per year.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
