Ristolainen doesn’t report to camp

The Sabres have their first preseason game of the year tonight at Pegula Ice Arena against the Minnesota Wild. The team arrived for training camp this morning at the KeyBank Center, but Rasmus Ristolainen wasn’t there.

It’s nothing to be too concerned about, but it is worth noting that No. 55 didn’t show. Since he isn’t currently signed to a contract, Ristolainen does not have to appear at camp yet.

“I would love to have him with us right now, but I’m confident that will move to be getting done and he’ll be joining us at some point in time.” – Dan Bylsma

Ristolainen said he didn’t expect to sign until after the World Cup of Hockey, but with Finland out of the tournament, it’s time for him to sign.

Some reports have stated that the two parties are still working on the salary, but this is nothing to be worried about. A signing should be expected to happen very soon.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
