Okposo hospitalized in ICU

Kyle Okposo is expected to miss the rest of the season, but on Wednesday, Paul Hamilton of WGR 550 reported that the forward is being treated in intensive care.

The Sabres have not released details of his condition, but head coach Dan Bylsma said his status was “very concerning.”

Okposo is in the Neuro Surgical ICU at Buffalo General Hospital.

“He’s sick and dealing with that,” Bylsma said. “It’s a difficult thing for him to be dealing with now in this situation. Very, as a coach and a person, concerned for him and his situation.”

“He’s seeing our doctors and done some tests.”

There is no more information available at this time regarding the exact illness, but we do with Okposo the best and hope he recovers. We’ll have more information as it’s reported.

In 65 games this season, Okposo scored 45 points (19 goals, 26 assists).

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
