O’Reilly placing blame on himself

Ryan O’Reilly is one of the leaders of this club, or he’s at least supposed to be. He’s not the only one who has shown frustration in the locker room, but the Sabres forward had some strong words on Wednesday morning about another sub-par season.

NHL Correspondant Joe Yerdon tweeted out some quotes from O’Reilly that included this one:

“I’m sick of it, for sure. It’s so disappointing. It’s so frustrating coming to the rink right now. Practicing, there’s no purpose right now. You’re seeing other teams gearing up for the playoffs and seeing teams, like a Toronto who’s young, too, seeing them in the spot we should be in — it’s very frustrating. I’m sick of losing. It’s getting exhausting and it’s not fun. It sucks the fun out of the game.”

Here’s more from Yerdon and O’Reilly:

Like it’s been for most of the season, the player know that they need to be better. They just have not been able to get the results on the ice.

Only three games remain and the Sabres will close out their home schedule against Montreal tonight at 7:30 p.m. EST.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
