Buffalo notes: The Sabres are looking to build off of their 3-1 win over the Rangers Saturday night. A couple of the new guys made themselves known to the hometown fans as Conor Sheary scored his first two goals as a Sabre, and Carter Hutton was phenomenal in his first win with Buffalo, stopping 43 of 44 shots including a 3-on-0 breakaway. Buffalo has yet to see any offensive production from Rasmus Dahlin, but he has shown poise on the blue line and it is only a matter of time until he starts putting up numbers. It is important for the Sabres to string together wins early in the season, especially at home. After today, they have one more game on this homestand before they head west for a five-game road trip against the American west coast teams.

Vegas notes: The Golden Knights are also coming off their first win of the season as they topped the Minnesota Wild in a shootout on Saturday. Today’s game is the second of a five-game road trip for Vegas, who are looking to build off of their historic first season as they lost in the Stanley Cup finals to the Washington Capitals.
