Eichel, Sabres visit Vancouver

⏰ 10 p.m.   ? MSG   ? WGR550

After a much-needed win over the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night, the Buffalo Sabres finish their three-game Western Canadian road trip with a meeting against the Vancouver Canucks tonight. The game is set for 10 p.m. at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, B.C.

Season series: This is the second and final meeting between the clubs this year with the Sabres grabbing the first game, 4-3, back in early November. Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart scored third period goals to tie the game at three. The teams played a scoreless overtime period, which eventually led to Jack Eichel and Casey Mittelstadt scoring shootout goals.

Buffalo notes: Jack Eichel’s overtime goal against the Flames not only gave the Sabres a crucial two points, it helped all of us forget about the embarrassing 7-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers earlier this week. Buffalo remains in the playoff race despite winning only two of their last six games. Rasmus Dahlin joined some elite company with names like Aaron Ekblad, Phil Housley, and Bobby Orr when the 18-year-old scored his fifth goal of the season against the Flames.

Vancouver notes: The Canucks are in a similar situation as the Sabres in regards to the playoff race. Vancouver finds themselves one point behind Edmonton and the Minnesota Wild for the last Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. The Canucks have only one win in their last five games and are without Elias Pettersson.
