Montour gets number, unlikely to play tonight

New Sabres defenseman Brandon Montour has worn No. 26 throughout his career, but with Rasmus Dahlin already donning it, Montour has elected to go with No. 62.

No Sabres player has ever worn No. 62 prior to this.

Montour is expected to be in Toronto for tonight’s game against the Maple Leafs, but it’s unlikely he will suit up. Fans will have to wait one more day for him to make his Sabres debut. Buffalo will take on the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
