Sabres face Avalanche

The Buffalo Sabres continue their 2 game road trip as they visit the Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center this afternoon for a 3 p.m. matchup.

Season series:

This will be the 2nd and final game between these two teams this season. The last time they met, Colorado brought their A-game to Buffalo in a 6-1 routing of the Sabres. Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon led the way by scoring twice. Nathan Beaulieu had Buffalo’s lone goal.

Buffalo notes:

The Sabres look to end a 3-game losing streak while also protecting their own net. Over the last 7 games, they have given up 33 goals (4.7 GAA). Recently acquired defenseman, Brandon Montour, has 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in his last 4 games played. He has been a breath of fresh air on the backend and will certainly look to continue to help the Sabres offensively and defensively.

Colorado notes:

The Avalanche will be without top line winger, Gabriel Landeskog, due to injury. Unlike the Sabres, the Avalanche have their sights set on the playoffs as they are only 4 points out of the final wildcard spot with a game in hand. After a 4-0 blanking by the Dallas Stars on Thursday, they will be ready to get back into the win column.
