Anthony Duclair scored first with a backhand shot at 17:07 of the first period. Brian Gibbons followed up at 19:49 with a redirected slap pass from teammate Christian Jaros to make it 2-0. Although the Sabres looked better in the second period, as the score remained 2-0. In the third, Rudolfs Balcers scored on the power play at 5:54 by tucking the puck under Hutton’s right pad to make it 3-0. Magnus Paajarvi sealed the victory for Ottawa at 7:24.

Both teams have already been eliminated from Stanley Cup Playoff hopes. The Sabres return home to face the Detroit Red Wings at 7pm on Thursday.
