Jersey numbers

The Sabres revealed 12 different jerseys numbers for the upcoming season earlier this summer.

Jimmy Vesey #13 – The number has been worn five times in Sabres history with the last being by Tim Kennedy in 2010.

Henri Jokiharju #10 – Patrik Berglund wore it last season and it has shared by others such as Dale Hawerchuk, Brad May, Henrik Tallinder, Craig Ramsay, and others.

Colin Miller #33 – 13 Sabres players have worn No. 13, but not many of them have been very notable. The biggest may be Lee Fogolin in 1987. Others include Joel Armia, Doug Janik and T.J. Brennan.

Marcus Johansson #90 – Clark Gillies, Joe Juneau, and Ryan O’Reilly are the only Sabres players to wear this number.

Andrew Hammond #36 – Patrick Kaleta last wore the number in 2015. Matthew Barnaby, Jan Ludvig, and Darcy Loewen were the others.

Victor Olofsson #68 – He has elected to change his number #41 to #68, which has never been worn in Sabres history!

Curtis Lazar #27 – When I see #27, I can’t help but think of Michael Peca. 11 Sabres have worn the number with the last being Derek Grant in 2017.

John Gilmour #58 – Only two other Sabres have worn this one. Tim Kennedy in 2009 and Paul Szczechura in 2012.

Arttu Ruotsalainen #25 – 13 players have worn it for Buffalo, including Vaclav Varada, Mike Grier, Mikhail Grigorenko, Carlo Colaiacovo, and Dave Andreychuk.

Dylan Cozens #42 – The Sabres first pick will go with #42, which has been worn by six Sabres including Nathan Gerbe and Richard Smehlik.

Jean-Sebastion Dea #15 – Jack Eichel’s old number could be on the ice in Buffalo’s future. Dea joins 21 Sabres who have worn it, including Gerry Meehan, Dixon Ward, Randy Wood, and Dainius Zubrus.

Will Borgen #3 – Borgen changed his number. It has also been worn by Garry Galley, James Patrick, Jordan Leopold and many others.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
