Cozens sent to WHL

The Sabres announced today that they have sent top pick Dylan Cozens to the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League.

Cozens making the roster was never a guarantee, but he did have a strong showing in training camp. There was also a possibility that he could have had a 9-game tryout with Buffalo to open the season, but the Sabres elected to give him a full year in Juniors instead.

Cozens is just 18 years old and put up 84 points (34 goals, 50 assists) in 68 games last season for Lethbridge. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him top those numbers this year.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
