Ruff Injured in Team Practice

Add another injury to the list. This time it’s head coach Lindy Ruff.

Ruff was injured in the team’s practice on Monday. He collided with defenseman Jordan Leopold.

Ruff suffered three broken ribs.

“I lost my breath,” Leopold said of going to the ice and seeing the impending collision with the NHL’s longest-tenured coach. “I was looking back and I kind of yelled, “Are you all right? Are you all right?’ Right away, no. That wasn’t a good thing. – Buffalo News

With the team on pace for close to 400 man games lost this season, now it’s Ruff who has been injured.

“To see him in that much pain, he probably has something going on there,” added goalie Ryan Miller. “Hopefully we get that sorted out and he’s all right. We need him behind the bench yelling and calling the lines. Lindy being a former player, he knew how to take the fall. He took it into his body instead of letting his head whip back or else it could have been really devastating.” – Buffalo News

Stay tuned for further details and updates.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
