Sabres waive three players

The Buffalo Sabres placed Nicholas Baptiste, Justin Bailey, and Matt Tennyson on waivers this afternoon, with the intention of them going down to the Rochester Americans.

There is a chance that an NHL team places a claim on any of the three, but it likely won’t be all of them. With the Sabres’ strong prospect system, Baptiste and Bailey have already had opportunities with Buffalo and are starting to be pushed out. They’d be a great addition for Rochester if they clear waivers, but the only way they’re seeing time with the Sabres this season is if they get called up because of injuries.

Lawrence Pilut was also sent down to Rochester, making it appear as if Brendan Guhle has earned a spot on the club.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
