Sabres claim Remi Elie

The Sabres used a waiver claim on Tuesday, grabbing forward Remi Elie from the Dallas Stars. Remi is 23 years old and has bounced between the AHL and NHL over the last few seasons.

It’s not a huge addition, but Elie could help out on the fourth line or play a bigger role if injuries come up.

Buffalo also learned that Scott Wilson will be out eight to 10 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair an ankle fracture, so the Elie claim does make sense as he’ll take that spot. Elie will wear #81, becoming just the second Sabres players ever with that number. The other being Miroslav Satan from 1997-2004.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
