For the second straight game, the Sabres needed overtime to get the win. After giving up the one goal lead with under two minutes to go in the third, Patrick Kaleta scored his third game winning goal of the season.
It was Kaleta’s ninth goal of the season as he jammed the puck past Henrik Lundqvist for Buffalo’s second consecutive win. Three of Kaleta’s nine goals this season have come at Madison Square Garden. The victory snapped an eight game road losing streak for the Sabres.
The lone Rangers goal was the first in just under 150 minutes going back a couple of games. Miller finished with 35 saves while Lundqvist ended with 30. The first Buffalo goal was scored by Adam Mair.
With two wins in a row, the Sabres seem to be back on track. They now have sole possession for the Northeast Division lead by two points over Ottawa, with two games in hand.
The Sabres will host Dallas on Wednesday in the first of three games in four night.
