Myers Leads Sabres Over Stars

All of a sudden, the Sabres have won three straight games, getting themselves back on track. Tyler Myers was the man of the hour Wednesday night, collecting a goal and three assists. Myers’ four point night will certainly get him closer to earning the Calder.

Dallas and Buffalo each scored three times in the opening period, while Marty Turco and Ryan Miller were struggling. Mark Mancari scored his first goal of the season after being called up a couple of games ago. Mancari also added an assist and was a plus three on the nights.

In the second period, Thomas Vanek added his 20th goal of the season, in what ended up being the game winning goal. Patrick Kaleta was a big part of the game as well, aggravating the opposing players and drawing them into penalties.

Kaleta even dropped the gloves with Steve Ott, and seemed to get the upper hand in during the fight. Derek Roy sealed the game with an empty net goal, resulting in a 5-3 win for Buffalo.

The Sabres outshot Dallas 43-20 and now lead Ottawa by two points in the Northeast Division. Buffalo will host Minnesota on Friday before heading to Detroit on Saturday.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
