Updates on Kaleta, Torres

Patrick Kaleta recently had thumb surgery today in Buffalo and there is a chance he could miss games, including the playoffs. Kaleta is expected to miss a minimum of two weeks and is still questionable for the first round of the playoffs.

Raffi Torres is almost ready to play. He should return either tomorrow or Thursday, at the latest. As for Thomas Vanek and Tim Connolly, there is still no word on how severe their injuries are. Their status for tomorrow’s game is unknown.

It looks like Ruff will keep some of the young kids up. Nathan Gerbe, Mark Mancari, or Tyler Ennis may be with the team for the next couple of weeks. If the injury bug keeps up, one or two of these guys might see some time in the playoffs.

Ruff was confident that the kids from Portland could step in and fill the holes in the Sabres lineup. He proved out to be right as the Sabres defeated the Bruins 3-2 on Monday night. Now, we will see if they can do it against the next two nights.

The Sabres will host Florida tomorrow night before heading to Toronto on Thursday. Be sure to check back for future updates or subscribe to our SMS text message alerts along the right side of the page.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
