More Sabres Out With Injuries

The Sabres have suffered a couple more injuries. Jochen Hecht, Tim Connolly, and Patrick Kaleta are all out for the rest of the regular season. Hecht was given a maintenance day on Wednesday and now has an upper body injury that will cause him to miss some time. Craig Rivet is almost ready to return, as is Thomas Vanek, both who could return this Saturday against Ottawa.

Mark Mancari has been called up from Portland on an emergency basis and will play tonight in Boston.

The Sabres have signed forward Luke Adam to a three year entry level contract. Adam was selected in the second round (44th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. With this signing, the Sabres have locked up each of their first three picks from 2008.

In the QMJHL, Adam finished second in voting for the MVP. He finished the season with 90 points (49G, 41A) in just 56 games. There were only eight games where Adam was not on the scoresheet.

Portland Pirates forward Tyler Ennis has been named the AHL’s Outstanding Rookie of they Year. Ennis has recorded 69 points in 65 games for Portland this season. Last year, it was Nathan Gerbe who won the award.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
