Penguins Will Host Classic

The NHL will officially announce the 2011 Winter Classic games today. It has already been determined that the Pittsburgh Penguins will host the Washington Capitals at Heinz Field on January 1st. It will be the second time the Penguins have participated in the Classic.

In addition, the NHL will also announce a second outdoor game that will be played in February. Calgary will host Montreal at McMahon Stadium. Further details will be released Friday afternoon.

Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin are a sure bet to draw in even more fans to the Winter Classic as they will face each other.

Let’s hear your thoughts. Should Pittsburgh be in the Classic again? What about the Sid/Ovie matchup?

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
