Sabres/Islanders Preview

After two solid wins against the top teams in the Northeast Division, the Sabres failed to defeat the Islanders for the second straight time. Despite Nathan Gerbe’s pair of goals in five seconds, New York left Buffalo with a 5-2 victory.

The Sabres are on Long Island today attempting to earn a much needed two points. Thanks to a late comeback by the Rangers on Saturday night, the Thrashers lost in a shootout, but still got a point. The Sabres are eight points behind Atlanta with three games in hand.

Ryan Miller is expected to start, and was furious after getting pulled early in the first period on Friday night. Patrick Kaleta re-injured his hand and will be out until February 4th, giving him plenty of time to heal during the All-Star break.

Drew Stafford and Tim Connolly have been ruled out of today’s game due to injuries. The Sabres have called up Matt Ellis and Paul Byron. What are your thoughts going into Sunday’s game? Can Buffalo finally beat the Islanders?

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
