Sabres/Leafs Preview

The Sabres are looking to beat the Maple Leafs for the fourth time tonight. Buffalo has already won three of the first five meetings and will conclude the season series tonight in Toronto.

With three consecutive wins, the Sabres have earned themselves some breathing room in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo are five points ahead of ninth place Carolina, but have the opportunity to move up in the standings.

The Sabres are just two points behind Montreal and the Rangers. Buffalo hosts the Rangers tomorrow night and could be in sixth place before Wednesday’s end. A win tonight and a Montreal loss would drop Montreal into eighth and Buffalo into 7th. A victory against New York tomorrow would have the Sabres in sixth.

Buffalo can all but end Toronto’s already dim playoff hopes with a win tonight. The Leafs are seven points back, but only have six games remaining.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
