Enroth Shines, Shuts the Door on Rangers

The Sabres earned a much needed victory over the Rangers on Wednesday night. Jhonas Enroth stopped all 23 shots he faced and the Sabres remained three points ahead of the ninth place Hurricanes.

Tim Connolly scored the lone goal of the game. It was his 12th of the season and was on the power play. Buffalo had 34 shots on net, but Henrik Lundqvist stopped all but one.

With Carolina’s victory over Montreal, the Sabres moved into a tie for seventh with the Rangers, but New York has the tiebreaker. Buffalo is also just two points behind Montreal with a game in hand.

Carolina and Buffalo meet on Sunday and both don’t play again until Saturday.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
