Sad news to report out of Toronto this afternoon. Ex-NHL right winger Wade Belak was found dead in his Toronto condo.
He was 35 years old.
Belak, a 14-year NHL veteran, spent time with the Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators. He scored 33 points (8 goals, 25 assists) while recording 1,263 penalty minutes in 549 career games.
Last March, Belak announced his retirement from the NHL. He planned on spending the next season working with the Nashville Predators television broadcast as well as participating in CBC’s “Battle of the Blades.”
Belak is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and two daughters, Andie and Alex.
