Sabres/Blue Jackets Preview

The Sabres came oh so close to defeating the Bruins on Wednesday night, but instead, were defeated in a shootout, allowing the Bruins to regain first place in the Northeast Division.

Tonight, the Sabres aim to get back in the win column as they visit the league-worst Columbus Blue Jackets, who have 13 points are are 5-13-3 on the season.

Buffalo have already defeated them once this year, which was back on Oct. 27th in a 4-2 victory at the First Niagara Center.

The Sabres are tied with San Jose for the best road record in the league at 7-2-0, and will look to improve on that tonight.

Zack Kassian has been called up from Rochester due to the lower-body injury suffered by Brad Boyes. Kassian will likely make his NHL debut tonight against the Blue Jackets.

“Everything has to get better”, said Kassian. I’m getting a great opportunity (in Rochester) playing a lot. I’m developing every aspect of my game, working hard. Down low is my game, using my body and getting pucks to the net and making plays…that’s what got me drafted by Buffalo.”

The rookies have been noticeable for Buffalo this season to say the least. Corey Tropp and T.J. Brennan have both scored their first career goals this month. Will Kassian do the same?

Tonight’s faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
