Sabres Recall Joe Finley

It was just announced that the Buffalo Sabres have recalled recently signed defenseman Joe Finley to fill-in for the injured Jordan Leopold.

The 24-year-old Finley, who stands at a towering 6 foot, 8 inches while weighing in at around 260 lbs., will be making his NHL debut when he suits up for the Sabres, which will presumably take place on Friday night against the Red Wings.

Joe Finley entered this season with the Rochester Americans on a tryout contract. After playing in 18 games with the Amerks, the Sabres liked what they saw from Finley and they locked him up with a 3-year deal.

This is a huge break for Joe Finley who has suffered through some bad breaks after being drafted 27th overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals. Before this season, Finley had only played in 8 AHL games. He suffered from an embolism in his forearm in 2009 and a knee injury in 2010, both injuries which ended his season.
