Sabres Injury Update

Injuries have been the story of the Sabres season. Here’s a look at each of them:

Ville Leino – Suffered a lower-body injury vs. Ottawa on 12/13. Lindy Ruff said he is expected to miss “several weeks.”

Patrick Kaleta – “Today is the best day so far,” Kaleta said Monday. He has been suffering from a groin injury since November 19th. Lindy Ruff believes that Kaleta could come back for Tuesday night’s game versus Ottawa after participating fully in practice Monday.

Tyler Myers – Began light stick-handling drills on Monday afternoon. “He skates every day,” said Lindy Ruff. “The encouraging part is he’s got the stick back in his hand, and he’s using it.” Myers expects to return around the Christmas break, but this is an encouraging step in his recovery from wrist surgery on November 19th.

Jochen Hecht  – “Jochen can’t do anything and will be out for awhile,” according to Lindy Ruff. Hecht blocked a shot with his foot and a broken foot is suspected but Lindy Ruff said, “It’s not really a broken bone, but it’s a little more complicated.” He is out indefinitely.

Brad Boyes – He is progressing and skating on his own after a suspected ankle injury, but there is currently no timetable for his return.

Other injuries: Corey Tropp (concussion) and Nathan Gerbe (concussion) are still out and their respective return to the ice is currently unknown.
