Sabres Call-Up Two More Amerks

The Buffalo Sabres announced this afternoon that they have called up forward Marcus Foligno and forward Derek Whitmore from the Rochester Americans.

Marcus Foligno, drafted 4th round (109th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, will be making his NHL debut. In his first season of professional hockey, Foligno has 12 points (9 goals, 3 assists) in 27 games for the Americans. Marcus is the son of former Sabre Mike Foligno and the younger brother of Nick, who plays for the Ottawa Senators. Foligno is 20 and he is from Buffalo, New York.

Derek Whitmore, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2008, will also be making his NHL debut. In his fifth season of professional hockey, all with the Sabres organization, Whitmore has 124 career points in the AHL, including 20 points (13 goals, 7 assists) this season for the Americans. Whitmore is 26 years old and he is from Rochester, New York.

Both players will join the Buffalo Sabres in Ottawa and they are expected to play tomorrow night.
