Not Out Just Yet

Trailing the 8th place Maple Leafs by seven points with 23 games to go doesn’t sound too possible to make the playoffs.

The Sabres sit in 14th place, and are coming off of an impressive performance against the Penguins.

Don’t count the Sabres out just yet.

They have a tough schedule the next couple of weeks, taking on Boston, the Rangers and then a west coast trip. If they can go on another streak like they had a few games ago, they could be right back in the mix.

With two more games against Toronto toward the end of the regular season, the Sabres could help themselves greatly with a pair of wins against the Leafs.

IF they did win both games that’s another four points gained in the standings, meaning the Sabres would have to make up the other three points before then.

I’m trying to be optimistic with all of this. We’ll see how they do in the next two weeks.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
