Sabres Trade Kassian for Cody Hodgson

The Sabres have made another move and this time it’s Zack Kassian and Marc-Andre Gragnani to the Canucks.

In return, the Sabres have acquired rookie Cody Hodgson. Hodgson is a center and has played in 63 games this season, collecting 33 points (16 G, 17 A).  The 22-year-old center was a 1st round pick (10th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Hodgson is signed for $1.6M through next season and will become a restricted free agent if he is not re-signed.

The Sabres have also acquired defenseman Alexander Sulzer. The german is a 27-year-old blueliner who has eight points in 74 career NHL games.

The Sabres do give up Kassian, who was also a first round pick (13th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Kassian has played 27 games for the Sabres this season, scoring three goals and four assists.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
