This award is presented by the Hockey Hall of Fame and, according to NHL.com, it is in recognition of members of the radio and television industry who have made outstanding contributions to their profession and to the game of hockey.
Rick Jeanneret becomes the second Sabres broadcaster to receive this honor, as Ted Darling was honored back in 1994.
This award is the highest honor that a hockey broadcaster can receive.
When Jeanneret spoke to WKBW’s Jeff Russo about the honor, he said “I never dreamed of this when I started. All of the Halls are special, this one has been my business for over forty years, so it’s very special as well. The fact that I will be going into a Hall, a second Hall, with the late Ted Darling means a lot.”
