Blogger Summit 3 Review

Let me just begin by saying what an honor it was just to have the chance to meet Buffalo Sabres President Ted Black and other members of the organization. It was a great opportunity to meet the other Sabres bloggers as well.

I won’t recap the entire event, as over a dozen other bloggers may have already.

The discussion started off with WGR 550 and the new Sabres radio show that will be beginning June 18th. The program, Sabres Hockey Hotline, will air from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday (Tuesday through Friday during NFL season). The show will be hosted by Kevin Sylvester and cover all aspects of the team. This will be the 9th consecutive year and 26th overall in which Sabres games will be on WGR.

There was also good news in that Rick Jeanneret will return once again, calling more games. I would estimate around 60-65, which is more than he did last season.

I can’t help but love what Brian Duff brings to the Sabres organization. Duff has signed a new deal and will be the full-time host for all Sabres broadcasts on MSG. With that, the Sabres have upgraded their telecasts, and will now air the Buffalo feed during Islanders and Rangers games.

It is apparent that Ted Black is doing everything in his power to make Sabres games an amazing experience and a great place to be. It all starts with the team on the ice winning, but compared to a few years ago, this city should be grateful for what Terry Pegula, Ted Black and the rest of the organization have done.

At the end of the summit, the Sabres announced five blogs that will have post-game locker room access during next season, and Sabres Hockey Central was one of them.

The five blogs were selected based on the number of games attended this past season. The other four were Die by the Blade, Buffalo Wins, Queen City Sports and 3rd Man in.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
