Morrisonn to KHL, Others Joining Overseas

Heading into last season, it was no secret that Shaone Morrisonn would play his contract out and seek employment elsewhere.

Morrisonn, if you recall, signed a two-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres back in August 2010. He would go on to play in 62 games the following season and did not perform up to the Sabres expectations.

Last season, Morrisonn was stached away in the AHL for salary-cap purposes, after clearing waivers before the season began.

Morrisonn will be heading to the KHL to after it was announced today that he had agreed to deal with HC Spartak.

There is more news to pass along when it comes to transactions.

Michael Ryan, who played in 8 games for the Rochester Americans last season, signed a deal back on 5/10/12 to play for Assat. They are a part of SM-liiga.

Mark Voakes, who played in 75 games for the Americans last season, signed a deal on 6/1/12 to head overseas and play for the Krefeld Pinguine, who are a part of the DEL.

Drew MacIntyre, who appeared in 23 games for the Americans and 2 games for the Sabres last season, signed with HC Lev on 6/3/12. This team resides in the KHL. It is also the same team that ex-Sabre Paul Szczechura signed with recently.

Dennis Persson, who appeared in 39 games for the Americans last season, signed with Brynas IF today. The team is a part of the SEL.
