This afternoon, Terry Pegula held his season-eve press conference with the Sabres media.
At the beginning of the press conference, Pegula announced that long-tenured general manager Darcy Regier has had his contract extended with the franchise. Regier signed his most recent contract extension in the fall of 2010.

It was also reported that Pegula would not discuss contract specifics. This is not surprising as current ownership has often shied away from releasing terms for front office employees.
Pegula stated the agreement had been reached “for quite some time now.”
This move, without a corresponding extension for Lindy Ruff, seems to be putting pressure on Ruff as the Sabres have missed the playoffs three out of the last five seasons.
