Sabres look to rebound against Carolina

After two big wins to open the season, the Sabres were deflated last night in Carolina as the Hurricanes scored six times en route to a 6-3 victory.

Tonight, the two teams meet again, but this time at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo. The Sabres are looking for revenge and will need a much better defensive effort than last night.

Both teams will likely use different goaltenders than last night. Ryan Miller will be in the net for Buffalo and Dan Ellis for Carolina.

After scoring just two goals in the first two games, Carolina found the back of the net six times last night against Buffalo. The Hurricanes avoided an 0-3 start to the season and could reach the .500 mark with another win tonight.

A loss tonight would have the Sabres at 2-2, and would all but erase the wins against Philadelphia and Toronto earlier in the week.

This is the 2nd of three meetings this season.

Thomas Vanek has been on the ice for all 10 of the Sabres goals this season. He is also the first Sabres player to record eight points in the team’s opening three games.

Cody Hodgson has scored a goal in every game this year. Prior to this season, he had never scored in consecutive games.

Ryan Miller will look to remain undefeated after winning the team’s first two games.

Tonight’s game is schedule for 7 p.m. and will be aired on MSG.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
