Debate: Will Kaleta be suspended?

Patrick Kaleta’s boarding major may have cost the Sabres the game on Sunday night, but it also may cost him some playing time. Early in the third period, Kaleta checked Brad Richards into the boards, earning a five minute major and a game misconduct.

Here is the hit:

Also, a hit that may be overlooked was a boarding penalty on Dan Girardi in overtime as he crunched Tyler Ennis into the boards. Here is a look at that hit:

i think he will because he has been suspended before, but it barley touched richards and he sild it pretty good. first he was holding his shoulder, then his wrist and then his leg, i mean what did he hurt? and the hit toi Ennis was almost as bad, but because Ennis got up almost right away, nothing called, and Kelta has improved his play, forechecking going to the net and winning pucks in the corner

He should be released because he's a joke. My 2 month old son has more hockey skill and awareness than that piece of crap goon kaleta.

Either his style is acceptable to Rolston or it isn't, and that needs to be dealt with sooner than later, no matter what the aftermath.

If there was consistency on these calls i would say yes, but to single out certain players is not right. He got hit from behind a few weeks ago in much the same manner and the other player did not even get a penalty. I think it was Gerbe that got shoved into the boards too and the player didn't get a penalty. Consistency...thats all I ask for.

I think if Richards was actually hurt, than yeah, he should be, but because he faked it the entire time, he shouldnt be.

If the league doesn't suspend him, he should be benched by the Sabres anyway. Bad decision on his part at a crucial time.

They should suspend Tortorella for being an a-hole. And yes - Richards gave an Oscar-winning performance yet didn't miss a shift.

Terrible hit by Kaleta. He needs to control himself, as much as I hate to say he, he should definitely be suspended for a good 4 games. In my mind, he was a big part of why we lost, Rangers had absolutely no momentum until that hit.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
