TJ Brennan Traded to Florida

Brennan, 23 years old, had tallied 2 points (2 goals, 0 assists) in 21 career NHL games with Buffalo.

This trade comes as no surprise, as the Sabres had been dealing with a defensive overflow.

Brennan was unable to be sent back to the AHL without clearing waivers, which locked him in Buffalo because the Sabres organization was afraid that Brennan would ultimately get claimed.

This move obviously confirms that Brennan’s time had run out with the Sabres, and they were looking to gain some form of compensation for him.

The 5th-round pick that the Sabres acquired from Florida has changed hands a few times.

New Jersey originally owned the pick, and then traded it to Los Angeles for forward Andrei Loktionov.

Los Angeles then traded the pick to Florida for defenseman Keaton Ellerby.

Stay tuned to Sabres Hockey Central for more on this developing story.

Update:
Here’s what Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier had to say about the Brennan trade.
