Sabres look to avoid Easter letdown

After blowing a two goal lead and losing in a shootout to Washington on Saturday, the Sabres are right back at it tonight as they host Boston at the First Niagara Center.

The Sabres are coming off a pair of shootout losses to the Panthers and Capitals, and have fallen to 2-8-2 against the Southeast. Ville Leino scored a pair of goals in Saturday’s loss, but said the team should not be losing when it has a two goal lead.

“It shouldn’t happen,” Leino said. “Good teams usually win those games. Teams that have success usually end up winning those games.”

Meanwhile, the Bruins are coming off of a 3-1 loss to Philadelphia on Saturday and the are now three points behind Montreal for the division lead.

“The biggest challenge is every game we have one line that’s scoring and the other three don’t do a thing,” Claude Julien. Then it’s a different line another game and then the other three don’t do it. We can’t win hockey games with just relying on one line per night producing for us.”

Tonight’s game marks the fourth of five meetings this season and Buffalo have taken two of the first three.

Thomas Vanek is likely to return for the Sabres after missing some time with an injury, while Ryan Miller is expected back between the pipes, after Jhonas Enroth got the start against Washington.

The Sabres have two games left before the trade deadline. The other will be against Pittsburgh Tuesday night.

“They’re pros and they understand the time of the year that it is and Wednesday is the deadline and what’ll happen will happen,” Sabres interim coach Ron Rolston said. “They don’t have control over that, so they’ve been pretty focused.”

Tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and can be seen on NBC Sports Network.

I founded Buffalo Hockey Central in 2008 and have poured hours and hours into this site. Luckily, we have a great team of writers and designers who have helped keep this up and running despite a ton of out-of-pocket costs. We do this because we enjoy it, and we're desperate to see the Sabres win the Cup someday, but they have to make the playoffs first.
