The Buffalo Sabres have officially named Thomas Vanek and Steve Ott as the team captains for the 2013-14 NHL season.
Thomas Vanek will be the captain for all Sabres home games, and Steve Ott will be the captain for all Sabres road games.
Vanek and Ott are the 17th and 18th full-season captains for the Buffalo Sabres. Chris Drury and Daniel Briere were the last set of co-captains in the 2006-07 season.
This is the first time in Vanek and Ott’s career that either player has been named a team captain.
Defenseman Christian Ehrhoff has been named as an assistant captain for the entire season.
