The Buffalo Sabres have traded pending unrestricted free agent Thomas Vanek to the New York Islanders.
In return for Vanek, the Sabres have acquired forward Matt Moulson, a 2014 1st-round pick and a 2015 2nd-round pick.
Moulson, 30 years old, has scored 233 points in 333 career NHL games.
