Week in Review #23

The Buffalo Sabres entered the 23rd week of their season on a 6-game losing streak, with no end in sight.

Buffalo opened up this week against the Calgary Flames. Things would continue to be poor for the Sabres as they dropped this matchup 3-1, and pushed their losing streak to 7.

The Sabres entered their game against the Edmonton Oilers, looking to avoid tying a franchise record of 8 straight losses. While Drew Stafford continued his white hot streak, Cory Conacher made his presence felt with his first two goals as a member of the Sabres. Buffalo would exit Edmonton with a 3-1 victory.

In their final game of the week, Buffalo would take on Vancouver. The Sabres would score two goals relatively quickly, and then fell completely flat. Vancouver would score four straight unanswered goals, and dropped Buffalo 4-2. This loss set the Buffalo Sabres franchise record for most regulation losses in an 82 game season.

Buffalo’s goal differential is a league-worst -72.

Exiting this week, the Buffalo Sabres sit in 30th place with a 20-43-8 record and 48 points.
